About Gosnell Tree & Landscape

Some history on how Santa Barbara’s longest-running tree care and landscape company came about. 60+ years and still going strong.

No job too small, no tree too tall.
– Tom Gosnell, Founder.

Tom Gosnell, founder of Gosnell Tree, won the very first International Society of Arboriculture International Tree Climbing Championship in 1976 and became the world champion. He was also in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the fastest tree climber in the world.

Tom Gosnell and the Gosnell family have been an integral part of the Tree Care and Landscape community in Santa Barbara since 1959. With over 60 years of experience, we pride ourselves on exceptional and honest service.

Gosnell Tree and Landscape is a family run business. Tom Gosnell started GTC in 1962 as Gosnell Tree Care, which later changed to Tom’s Tree Care. His son and protégé, Casey Gosnell worked with Tom from the age of 8, and eventually took over the business in 1994 when he added a landscape design, installation, and maintenance division.

Tom’s wife and Casey’s mother, Theresa Gosnell is the bookkeeper for the business and Casey’s daughter, Jasmine, works in the office as well and is a certified Arborist.

All of our workers are like family as well. Two of our foreman, Jose and his brother Silvano have worked with us for over 25 years and have become part of the Gosnell family. Jose’s son now works for us too. We have many employees who are cousins, brothers, fathers and sons working together with us to make GTL a family-oriented business.
